1)Alignment -  the setting of text flow or image placement relative to a page, column, table cell or tab.

2)Application Window- The primary window of an application that is not document-based.

3)Clipboard- a software facility that can be used for short-term data storage and/or data transfer between documents or applications, via copy and paste operations.


4)Default Settings- Standard settings for a command or option that are predetermined by the computer, but can be changed by the user.

5)Dialog Box Launcher- A window that appears on a computer screen, presenting information or requesting input.

6)Document Window- A type of window used by the application to support and manage multiple open documents, or multiple views of an open document.

7)Document Workspace- A document repository that enables users to collaborate on one or more documents.


8)Drag-and-Drop editing- A feature whereby operations are performed on objects, such as icons or blocks of text, by dragging them across the screen with a mouse.

9)Edit- prepare for publication or presentation by correcting, revising, or adapting.

10)File- a set of related records (either written or electronic) kept together.

11)File Compatibility- whether or not the file is compatible with the program you want to open it with.

12)File Extension- a suffix to the name of a computer file applied to indicate the encoding convention (file format) of its contents.

13)First Line Indent- Indent on the first line of the paragraph.

14)Folders a virtual container within a digital file system, in which groups of computer files and other folders can be kept and organized.
15)Font- The typeset used in page design.

16)Format- the organization of information according to preset specifications (usually for computer processing)

17)Format Painter- A feature in Microsoft Word that applies a style from one part of the document to another.

18)Hanging Indent- A format style that puts a small amount of text hanging out in the left margin, while the main body is indented to make room for it.

19)I-beam- A graphical image used to represent the location of the mouse pointer in a text entry box and providing a visual cue that text can be entered in.

20)Indent- set in from the margin.

21)Insert Mode the mode where text is inserted into the document.

22)Insertion Point- The point where whatever you type or paste in an application will be inserted.

23)Landscape Orientation- the horizontal dimensions of the page are longer than the vertical.

24)Manual Line Break- ends the current line and continues the text on the next line.

25)Manual Page Break- a code that marks the end of a page.

26)Margin- the blank space that surrounds the text on a page.

27)Normal.dotm Template-  includes default styles and customizations that determine the basic look of a document.

28)Open a Document- allows text, graphics, and documents to be transferred between different systems.


29)Overtype Mode- When Excel replaces the character to the right of the insertion point.


30)Path-  specifies a unique location in a file system.

31)Points- the precise location of something.

32)Portrait Orientation- An image registered so that is is taller than it is wide, with the narrow edge running along top and bottom.

33)Ribbon- a long strip of inked material for making characters on paper with a typewriter.

34)Save a Document-  To copy data to a more permanent form of storage.

35)ScreenTip- A small pop-up window that provides brief context-sensitive help when users point to an item.
 
36)Scroll- a document that can be rolled up.

37)Select-  a system call for polling the status of multiple file descriptors.

38)Soft Page Break- A processing instruction that creates a conditional page break.


39)Toggle- a switch that can assume either of two positions an on/off switch.

40)Word Wrap- A feature on a word processor that automatically moves a word that is too long to fit on a line to the beginning of the next line.
