1. active window- window in the current window manager or explorer.

2. Appearance and Personalization category- using technology to accommodate the differences between individuals.

3. application file- a file  written in an application or program's.
 
4. bitmapped graphics-  hardware and software that represent graphics images as bit maps.

5. cell- a device that delivers an electric current as the result of a chemical reaction.

6. data file-  a set of related records kept together.


7. database- a collection of data for one or more multiple uses.

8. datasheet- A display of rows and columns that represent the data held in a data table.

9. directory- a listing of the files stored in memory (usually on a hard disk).

10. field- somewhere where practical work is done or data is collected.

11. file properties- indicate what actions the project system should perform on the files.

12. gadgets-  a device or control that is very useful for a particular job.

13. hidden file-  important files relating to a user's environment and are a target for exploits by hackers.

14. icons- a graphic symbol that represents a program or a command or a data file or a concept in a graphical user interface.

Homework Vocab set #2 Mp2

1. algorithm- a set of rules specifying how to solve some problem.
2. application software- computer software designed to help the user to perform a singular or multiple related specific tasks.
3. backup-a copy of a file or directory on a separate storage device.
4. beta testing- testing across platforms and browsers on beta sites to resolve any issues or bugs.
5. bundleware-  the practice of including several related games or other software into a single package.

6. Cable management-an important step during the installation of building services  and the 
installation of equipment.

7. cookie-  a small piece of text stored on a user's computer by a web browser.

8. corona wires- An electrically charged wire in a laser printer that pulls toner from the drum onto the paper.
9. data theft-access to technology such as desktop computers and hand-held devices capable of storing digital information such as flash drives, iPods and even digital cameras.

10. defragmentations-To reorganize the disk by putting files into  order.
11. driver-  a program that determines how a computer will communicate with a device.
12. encryption-To conceal information in code.

13. ergonomic keyboard- a computer keyboard designed to minimize muscle strain and a host of related problems.
14. flowchart- a diagram of the sequence of operations in a computer program or an accounting system.

36. troubleshooting- To find out why something does not work and to fix the problem. 
37. Uninterruptible power supply (UPS)- keeps the server running on a battery for several minutes after a power outage, allowing for a clean shutdown without loss of data.
38. useful life-the period during which a property is expected to be usable for the purpose it was acquired.
39. warranty-a written assurance that some product or service will be provided or will meet certain specifications.


40. wireless keyboard- A keyboard without wires which interact with the computer through blue tooth or infrared technology.
